Purchasing: I am a Internet based studio business. Purchases are accepted from an emailed order form from the website. Telephone calls to place an order are discouraged as I am not set up to accept payment information over the telephone.
School Year Hours: (August - May), Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. MOST of the time. However, I am a mother of five school-aged children, and am often scheduled to assist with their school, Scout and church activities.
Summer / Holiday Hours: Closed all major holidays and school holidays. During the summer, I am on hiatus for the entire month of July, and am gone several days at a time throughout the year. Orders and questions will be processed as soon as I return.
Local Buyers / Visits to the studio: I do not have a retail store, and I do not keep regular hours. Local ordinances and my insurance does not allow for retail customers, and baskets are not available for pickup from my location.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to make my order? Due to the individual and complete hand-crafting of each aspect of a Nantucket basket or Nantucket Basket Purse, an order may take 4-12 weeks to complete. Christmas orders should be placed no later than September 15th! Although I accept orders year-round, an order for a Nantucket basket or Nantucket purse received after the 15th of September is NOT guaranteed to be completed and received in time for the Christmas holidays. I am no longer accepting custom orders for Nantucket Baskets.
Why does it take so long? Each Nantucket basket or Nantucket purse is crafted personally by me, one at a time. I accept orders year-round, and usually have two to three orders at a time "on the bench." Orders are filled "first come, first served". I have many Nantucket basket and Nantucket Purse baskets available for immediate sale.
How do I pay for my order with a credit card? I accept credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard & Discover Card) through my secure website online order form, which is a secure site. Your credit card will not be charged until the work has begun on your basket order. There is almost always a "line of orders", so please be patient as it may be a few weeks until I can begin working on yours.
What if I wish to cancel an order? Please contact me via email or in writing via first class mail as soon as possible. It costs me time and money to begin work on an order for a Lightship Nantucket basket, only to have the ordered canceled. Your payment will be promptly returned to you.
Bounced checks (NSF or a closed account) or Stopped Payments will be subject to an additional fee, by Georgia law, of $25.00 or 5% of check, whichever is greater, to be paid within 10 days via money order.
I wish to pay with a money order or personal check. I welcome money orders, corporate or personal checks. Please submit a complete website order form FIRST so that I have all the information I need to to craft your Nantucket basket or Nantucket purse, including your correct shipping address and contact information. Please make your payment payable to Simply Baskets and mail your payment and a copy of the order. An emailed copy of your order will be automatically sent to the email address you provide.
How much will have to pay for shipping? I ship all my baskets or purses via the United States Postal Service, Priority Mail, fully insured with online tracking and/or signature confirmation. Each basket or purse has a fixed price shipping cost, indicated in 'checkout' - no additional charges will be added UNLESS you live in Georgia, where 6% sales tax on the purchase price will be added.
If you live out of the USA, including Canada, please use the Request Invoice Link located just below the blue "ORDER" button. Your shipping cost will be higher than those to the USA; in addition, you will be responsible for any taxes or import charges your country may charge.
What if I receive my basket and wish to return it for a refund? Every basket I craft is sold with my "satisfaction guarantee". If you receive a basket or purse and are just not happy with it, I ask that you email me within 3 business days of receipt to let me know, and return to me fully insured and tracked within 10 days. Upon receipt of the basket or purse in "sent" condition, a refund for the purchase price will be immediately issued. Return shipping costs are NOT refundable. Personalized items (quarterboards) and custom scrimshaw plaques are not refundable.
What if my basket or purse is damaged during delivery? In over 18 years of shipping my baskets, I have never had a basket delivered damaged. If, however, this unfortunate event does strike you, please save all the packing materials, the original box, and contact me ASAP. Your local Post Office will need to inspect the basket, the box and the packing materials. Every basket is sent fully insured, and I will work with your Post Office to obtain a refund for your purchase.

Do you sell corporate gift baskets or gift baskets? So many of these finely crafted Nantucket Lightship Baskets are perfectly designed as an elegant corporate gift basket or as a gift basket for other occasions. Many lend themselves to use in weddings as a unique bride's basket or as a bride's maid, or bridal party basket. I do not fill these baskets, I leave that up to you.
Do you sell your baskets wholesale? Since I am the sole artist and craftsperson, I am neither equipped nor desire to sell wholesale basketry. I do not sell my Nantucket Baskets or Nantucket Lightship Basket Purses as wholesale basketry to gift shops, wholesalers or TV shopping shows.
Do you sell basket weaving supplies, basket making supply, basket making kits, basket molds or other weaving supplies? Due to time constraints, I do not sell basket making supplies, basket weaving supplies, basket molds, basket making or basket weaving books, nor basket making kits.
